The COMPE team joined Got Matar Primary and Junior School for a tree planting activity, where they also officially launched the Environmental Club under the Climate Change Program. This activity marked an important step in promoting environmental conservation and creating awareness among learners on the importance of protecting our environment. Through the tree planting exercise, students, teachers, and COMPE staff worked together to plant seedlings within the school compound, contributing to a greener and healthier learning environment. The launch of the Environmental Club provides a sustainable platform for students to actively engage in environmental conservation activities, learn about climate change, and take leadership in promoting eco-friendly practices within the school and the wider community. Through tree planting and the establishment of the club, the school community has taken a positive step in the fight against climate change and in building a greener future.

COMPE staff participated in a one week Training of Trainers (ToT) on Life Skills held at Distinction Gardens Hotel in Siaya Town. The training was organized by Farm Africa under the Youth in Sustainable Agriculture (YISA) program, with funding support from Mastercard Foundation. The ToT training aimed to equip participants with essential life skills knowledge and facilitation techniques that can be cascaded to young people within their respective communities. Key areas covered included communication skills, decision-making, problem-solving, self-awareness, and leadership development, all tailored to empower youth engaged in sustainable agriculture. Through interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises, COMPE staff enhanced their capacity to deliver impactful life skills training. The knowledge gained will strengthen COMPE’s programming, particularly in supporting youth to build resilience, improve livelihoods, and actively participate in sustainable development initiatives. This training marks a significant step in enhancing the organization’s ability to integrate life skills into its community interventions, especially under youth-focused programs.
